Using the System ManagerBy clicking the leftmost tab in the ACE window, labeled "System", you are presented with the System Manager, as seen in the image to the right. The System Manager can be used to perform these tasks:
Each of these tasks is accomplished by clicking its corresponding button.
Checking disk quotas
To find out how much disk space you still have available, click the button
marked "Check System Quota". It will present you with a window like the
one pictured to the right.
The "Blocks" meter tells you how much actual disk space you have left. The "Files" meter tells you how many more files you can store on your virtual server. These meters represent independent limits. For example, if you run out of blocks, you cannot store more files even if your Files meter isn't on 100%. You also can't make your files any longer once you hit 100% Block usage. Conversely, if you run out of Files, you cannot create new files even if you still haven't used all the Blocks. In this latter case, you could make your existing files longer, even though you couldn't create new ones. If you are running out of space, one quick -- but temporary -- fix is
to clear your log files.
Clearing log filesClearing your log files will delete all the data that is in your log files. These files collect a running history of web, mail, and ftp transfers and can be used to analyze a server's traffic. Because this data can quickly fill up a server's available space, it makes sense to periodically purge the log files. To clear your virtual server's log files, click the button marked "Clear Log Files". All your virtual server's log files will be cleared. This operation is not reversible and will not be confirmed, so don't click the button unless you really want your logs to be cleared.
Once the operation has completed, the panel shown above will appear.
Click the "OK" button to dismiss it.
Rotating log filesIn contrast to deleting all the data in your log files, you can "rotate" the files. When you rotate logs, the data in the current log file is moved to a temporary file and a new log file is started. The next time you rotate the logs, the old, saved data is replaced by the current log file's data, and so on. If you rotate your logs regularly, it keeps the files from ever filling up too much server space, but still allows the most recent historical data to be retained. To rotate your virtual server's log files, click the button marked "Rotate Log Files". All your virtual server's log files will be rotated. This operation is not reversible and will not be confirmed, so don't click the button unless you really want your logs to be rotated
Once the operation has completed, the panel shown above will appear.
Click the "OK" button to dismiss it.
