ACE Bug List

There are a few known bugs in ACE:

  • Client session list not preserved during upgrade
In order to preserve the client session list, it is necesary to make a copy of the session.properties file on your PC before upgrading to the latest version of ACE.

  • File transfer unreliability
Using the File Manager, transferring files between Virtual Servers can be somewhat unreliable. Sometimes it works successfully, sometimes it does not. Occasionally .gif files may contract visible errors when uploaded via ACE. In addition, some large files may become corrupted during the transfer.

  • Autoresponder answer message not stored
The autoresponder feature works only if the answer message is created manually (via Telnet or SSH), otherwise the answer message is completely blank. When creating a new autoresponder ACE creates the file where the answer message is to be stored, but does not store the message.

  • Display problems when using non-English keyboard
When using Ace with a non-English keyboard, typing special characters such as the "@" sign do not show up correctly. There is a workaround; enter the ASCII Code (64 for "@") while pressing the "ALT" key. If this does not work for "@", try 788 and the "ALT" key simultaneously.

  • Stats time out when processing large log files
ACE may time out when generating statistics if your log files are too large (approximately 5-6 MB).

  • Changing password status
In the Session Manager, when the Password option is changed from "Always use this password:" to "Prompt me when I log in", there is no prompt when the next session is commenced. Following sessions are, however, preceded by a prompt for the password during log in.

  • No proxy support
In the Diagnostics Manager, you may get an error message "Connection Refused" if you are using a firewall or other proxy. This error does NOT mean your Virtual Server HTTP service is down.

  • No support for the <Host...> tag
ACE does not support the <Host...> tag in the web server configuration file (~/www/conf/httpd.conf). In order for ACE to work correctly with Virtual Subhosts all <Host...> tags must be converted to <VirtualHost...>.

  • Installing Analog
Occasionally ACE seems to have a problem installing the Analog module, which is required for the Statistics Report feature. If you experience trouble, try connecting to your Virtual Server via Telnet or SSH and running the installace command.

    % installace

This command should install the Analog module. If this does not correct the problem, it may be necessary to Install Analog manually.
