Allowing anonymous file uploads"How do we let anonymous ftp clients transfer files to our server?" You can specify any directory in your ~/ftp directory tree to be "upload only" by creating a ".incoming" file in that directory. For example, to set up an incoming directory in "ftp/pub/incoming" perform the following steps at the Telnet/SSH prompt: % mkdir ~/ftp/pub/incoming % touch ~/ftp/pub/incoming/.incoming
This creates a directory "incoming" that your anonymous login clients can upload to but cannot download from. This deters "warez" peddlers from exploiting your site to distribute illicit software. |
